Strengthening Our Communities and Restoring Our Environment
Led by Director Mike Larrivee, Regenerative Initiatives is a robust arm of The Works. The program has several projects focused on sustainability and regeneration that operate in tandem with our other community development work in fields such as housing, food programs, workforce development and community engagement.
Regenerative Initiatives exists to advance and normalize the job creating programs and systems of land use and material management that will provide the level of resource resilience necessary for the human and built environment work performed by The Works to be successful in the long term.

OUR PROGRAMS
Roots on the Ground
Roots on the Ground is a paid training program that provides residents from underserved areas within Memphis the skill-based education and training to pursue jobs and careers in plant production, tree nurseries, tree care, landscaping and other green jobs.
This is an intensive 4-week program that includes OSHA courses, expert lectures, on-the-job training, and tree care demos that will help prepare students for the challenges and advantages of these jobs.
Cohort 1 runs from February 2-27 and Cohort 2 runs from March 9-April 3.
There will be no more than 10 participants per cohort and the pay is $16.50/hr up to 40 hours a week.
